Regional Nature Park of the Friulian Dolomites
Nature and environment
It was established with the Regional Law of the Autonomous Region Friuli – Venezia Giulia n. 42 of 30 September 1996.
The Park is located in the mountain area above the high Friulian-Venetian plain. The protected area extends from the province of Pordenone to that of Udine and embraces Valcellina ( Municipalities of Andreis, Cimolais, Claut, Erto and Casso ), the Valley of Tagliamento ( Municipalities of Forni di Sopra, Forni di Sotto ) and The confluent territories towards the Val Tramontina ( Communes of Frisanco and Tramonti di Sopra ).
The Friulian Dolomites Nature Park is the largest of the two only Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s Parks: an area of 36,950 hectares. Nearby is also the Forra del Cellina Regional Nature Reserve (304 hectares), managed by the Park Authority itself.
The Friulian Dolomites Nature Park is a real paradise for hiking and trekking; Activities ensured by an adequate network of trails and numerous support structures (casings, bivouacs).
The territory, considered to be of great geological, environmental and natural interest, is characterized by a high degree of wilderness, particularly perceptible due to the absence of communication routes (there are only some penetration paths in the valleys and service tracks not connected between the Large valleys) and difficult to find, by extension, in other areas of the Alpine Arc. The Monfalconi chain with the Montanaia Bell Tower, the high altitude meadows of “Canpuros”, the pastures of the Senons pond and the solitude of the Meduna canals make it a unique setting. Connected to the Park there is also the nearby Forna del Cellina Nature Reserve, a significant and spectacular engraving that the Cellina torrent excavated in the limestone layers between Barcis, Andreis and Montereale Valcellina before its outlet in the high Friuli plain. The geomorphology of these mountains reveals a remarkable and continuous evolution of the territory witnessed by the presence of faults, overcrowding and fractures that are opposed to morren and pyramids of land determined by the excavation and deposition of ancient glaciers; Dolomitic spiers and towers (the Montanaia Bell Tower), as well as rock stratifications of the various characteristics (the books of San Daniele) also indicate intense alpine erosion.
The area is affected by three major tectonic lines: “Alto Tagliamento” line, “Overdriven Monte Duranno-Alto Meduna” and “Overdrive (or Fault) Periadriatico”. The latter is easily identifiable in the Andreis area south of Mount Raut, where it determines a unique landscape. Another factor that characterized the geomorphologic aspect of the most internal areas was the widespread presence of glaciers, extending up to several thousand years ago, in all the valleys of the Pre-Alpine region. The testimonies are highlighted by some sections of the valleys and large and small “circus” glaciers modeled on the hillside. It should also be remembered the great deposits of the Frana del Monte Toc (or Vajont), which evoke the catastrophe of 1963 and constitute a unique example of a colossal franso event.
Significant feature of the Friulan Dolomites Natural Park is the fact that it can only be crossed by hiking trails, following the primary pathway, identified and managed, taking into account the aspects of maintenance, safety standards, naturalistic impact, Historical importance. There are also the thematic routes, accessible to all (some even for disabled), characterized by the proximity to the inhabited centers and the peculiarity of introducing, representing and providing insights on the interior of the Park. The remaining trails, which are more demanding and characterized by crossings of areas with unmarked trails and with little or no trace, guarantee the preservation of traditional mountaineering aspects, ie the taste of adventure and discovery, while at the same time ensuring the spontaneous protection of Vast area.
Art, Vogue, Culture
He born in Milan at 1954, he’s a artist and historian of the Italian culture.
Active since the early 1970s, as a cultural agitprop of the alternative scene with the “Insekten Sekte” psychedelic magazine, founded by him in Amsterdam and spread along the “Hippie Trail”. With its unmistakable graphic trait, it collaborates with several countercultural titles of the period, from the American “Berkeley Barb” to the Italian “Fallo!”.
In the Eighties, he is interested in shamanism and traditional cultures, traveling to Japan, the United States, South America and Australia. Illustrator, painter, essayist, event organizer, exhibits in Italy, the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Switzerland, both in institutional locations (such as the Triennale of Milan) and in abnormal creative environments. Over the years it has been able to continuously update the psychedelic imagery, re-connecting the underground rows of a mystic-evolutionary research that has never ceased. His work is a line of echoes coming from archaic cultures, modern techniques of psychic analysis, scientific research on the activities of the mind, all suitably mixed with robust doses of irony. He learned to combine in a single sign with different cultural traditions, with a style that is still today extremely elastic and magically visionary, capable of expanding with incredible ruthlessness (we think of the covers of the disks, editorial pages, but also of his canvases ), As well as fixing on those delicious and sharp icons (so open, but stable, fresh and safe together) that represent its production as an illustrator. He is active in the field of design (Bruno Munari, Studio Mendini, Italo Rota, Alessandro Guerriero, Alberto Biagtti), journalism (D-La Repubblica, Alias, Gap Japan, Zoom France, Wired, Vogue, Abitare) , Yoox, Vivienne Westwood, Malo, Biba). Historian of Costume and Art Critic, has published over thirty essays on historic avant-gardes and creative antagonistic movements. He is one of the few Italian artists present in Grushkin & King’s prestigious volume “Art of Modern Rock” (2004).
During the festival he proposed the workshop “I Can Hear the Grass Grow”.
“Funny and philosophical, he has achieved the maximum expressive ability in making psychedelic fantasy images”
