Tramontina Valley, literally the Valley of the Sunsets, is located within the Carnic Pre-alps in Friuli Region and it’s crossed by Meduna river.
In this valley there are the 2 villages called Tramonti di Sotto and Tramonti di Sopra, and right where the river merges into the level there is the Meduno village.
In between Meduno and Tramonti di Sotto there is the artificial lake called Tramonti or Redona, from the name of the little village built on its shores.
The suggestive buildings made of stones from the ancient hamlets, still now arise during the period when the level of the lake is shorter, after being submerged from the water since the creation of a dam on the Meduna creek.
The temperate summer climate also allows the swimming in the area of the Chiarzo and Meduna creeks.
The main touristic attraction is the stunning natural landscape of the Friulian Dolomites Alps, protected by UNESCO.
Fo all hikers there are several paths towards the lakes passing by the villages. The Valinis Mountain is the best place for all those who are passioned of paragliding and climbing.
Fishing is also possible within the lakes and doing canoeing, while speleology is largely practiced in “Bus di Castigu” in the area of Campone village.
Walking with “ciaspole” is another particular activity can be made in Tramonti di Sopra and Tramonti di Sotto villages.
