“We must protect the forests for our children, grandchildren and children yet to be born. We must protect the forests for those who can’t speak for themselves such as the birds, animals, fish and trees.” (Chief Qwatsinas)
The resources of the Earth are finite and scarce. In light of this, the damaging actions of the developed world must be communicated and reported. This keeps us informed and conscious of what we must do as a collective to help preserve our Earth.
The use of alternative and sustainable materials is a mission for Sonica festival as well as the water and the waste management. The use of bamboo for building parts of the festival is so matching with our purposes, considering it is fast growing and its cultivation is totally sustainable with no pesticides or fertilizers. As natural fiber, it is also completely biodegradable. Our choice to use wood or bamboo in place of other manufactured materials contributes to reduce a percentage of the emissions produced by industries and confirm our responsible and conscious work to protect the surrounding environment.

The main objective of the eco-team is to keep the location as clean as possible and to keep safe the resources and materials being used within the festival.
This year’s Sonica Eco Team is comprised of volunteers who will deal with the protection and cleanliness of the festival venue. Volunteers are the backbone of the environmental project at Sonica. As members of the Eco Team, they will provide information for all participants, while demonstrating that it is possible for a young, energetic and committed group of people to help create an environmentally sustainable event.
